Who we are
In the heart of Boulder, Colorado, two college friends from the University of Colorado (CU), Aidan and Thomas, built a friendship rooted in mutual respect, complementary skills, and a drive to create something meaningful. Aidan, a graduate of CU’s Leeds School of Business, went on to become a successful entrepreneur with a sharp eye for market gaps and operational strategy. Thomas took a different path, entering the trades and eventually earning his license as a Master Electrician. With years of experience on job sites across the state, Thomas gained a deep understanding of the challenges field crews face every day.
It was during one of their regular catch-ups that Thomas voiced a common frustration—something small but impactful. On job sites, marking underground lines, hazards, and important landmarks was still being done with inconsistent tools and methods. Crews were relying on spray paint, stakes, and makeshift solutions that often led to confusion, wasted time, or miscommunication. Thomas knew the work could be done better. Aidan saw the business opportunity.
Together, they developed the concept for Markin’ Stick—a durable, no-frills marking tool designed specifically for electrical crews. Its purpose is simple: to make the marking process quicker, more accurate, and more consistent. Built with real-world job sites in mind, Markin’ Stick is lightweight, easy to use, and tough enough to handle daily wear in the field. It’s not a high-tech gadget—it’s a practical tool that solves a real problem.
With Aidan’s business insight and Thomas’s field experience, they co-founded RG Electric to bring Markin’ Stick to market. What started as a simple idea between friends quickly gained momentum. Early adopters appreciated the straightforward functionality of the tool and how it seamlessly fit into their daily workflow. It didn’t try to reinvent the wheel—it just made it roll a lot smoother.
RG Electric is focused on building tools that respect the way tradespeople work. Aidan and Thomas believe that innovation doesn’t always have to mean adding technology—it can also mean improving the tools that already work. With Markin’ Stick, they’re giving electrical crews something reliable, effective, and designed with their needs in mind.
Their mission is clear: to help electrical companies work smarter and faster by delivering the kind of simple solutions that make a big difference.
